Analysis
of how I used my research in my film?
After I have completed my audience research, only of my
main findings were that 70% of the audience wanted the main character to be
both male and female protagonists
however, on the other hand the audience wanted to have the locating of
the film opening filmed at a park or a local estate, seeing as this is a normal
convention of where a teen urban drama film is located.. The reason being is
that an estate is set in a dirty and broken area , whereas a park is a communal
area where teenagers go to smoke and drink alcohol with there friends. As a
group we decided to have the location set at a night club the remaining 60% of
the audience wanted , they also wanted the type of music to be ‘house’ genre
music as you would normally hear this at a club. We also thought that it would
be a good location as we wanted the characters to be central around a communal
area. We also did some film research and the main findings for that a close up is used to establishes the main
character, while using narrative. A soundtrack is used to help create a
specific mood for the character or the scene . For our film I have decided to
use house music to create the atmosphere, in the opening club scene as well as
it starting with film credits. For my own film I began the opening scene with
the production logo company from the
distributor ‘film 4’ I used this main company in particular as it advertises
films that are specific targeted audiences
that are , males and females and the social class of C2DE. The two main
protagonists were a teenage girl that is
mainly shown in mid shots and close ups of her face, whereas the teenage boy
was mainly shown outside smoking with
chiaroscuro lighting used on him to create the look of him being mysterious and
suspicious. The audience are fully aware of the narrative voiceover of a young
teenage boy talking about his battles of drugs in the form of poetry this
heavily compliments my film opening. A close up is used on the boy smoking so
that audience can see some of his facial
expressions, while again the rest of his body and surroundings are covered by
shadows.
