Question 7:

Question 7: looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to a full product.

By looking back at my preliminary task, I have learnt that both Taja and I could have used more hand gesture and eye contact towards each other in the footage the reason being is that I feel like we lose the connection between the each other that looked as if we did not want to be there. Next time if we learn our lines for the interview and have better lighting as well as location for the interview, we would have gotten a much better outcome for the interview task., as well as us giving big gestures as well as facial expression so show both our interest and in the interviews case knowledge about the questions for the person he is interviewing. As a whole the interview looked dull and very flat to seeing as  in the background you could see and hear the typing motion of the keyboard as well as the location of a classroom shows that it was very last minute and the ambient sound takes you away from the interview conversation that is happing in the foreground of the camera. Furthermore we should have made the interview more realistic, by having it recorded in a quieter room here the audience would not lose focus from the interview that is going on. Next time I think that Taja and I could have done takes in order for us to get a much better outcome of the interview so that it would of appeared much more shaper and cleaner for the audience to make out what was going on. However, having said that I think that the topic of conversation going on between Taja and I was clear and basic, seeing as we were both talking about the brand new film that Taja was going to star in soon. In conclusion this was our first attempt at recording that we have done before our final product of the film opening scene. The camera techniques that were used were practical and worked well in our favour, as seeing as we shown a rang of angles such as an over the shoulder shot, shot reverse, shot , close-ups on the interviewee and also medium shots, to see show the location of the interviews surroundings. To start our interview we decided to use a long and medium shot of the Taja and I entering the classroom, this was done by having Taja knocking on the down by the camera then switching to a mid shot of me opening the door., this was to star the interview.

The continuation from the preliminary task to the actual film was very successful as I used carious different camera techniques which were completely different to the interview that we as a group did. We learnt how to use the film and video software called ‘Adobe premiere’ that allowed us to structure and to piece together our interview better in a full death editing process. Also as well as converting the videos from a canon camera into a moving montage of images to make the interview look like a continuations scene. All in all I have learnt that a if we used a soundtrack  or a sound motifer for the interview which we would have lost the effect that e were trying to convey to the audience therefore, by use just using dialogue gave a much bigger impact then if we just used sound or a voiceover. Later on, I realised that as we recorded the footage in small clips, the editing process was much longer, therefore Taja and I had to stretch and cut out some bits of footage on adobe premiere that was not necessary for the interview. Furthermore, as our clips of footage where not that long it was much simpler and easy for Taja and I to create a shot montage of clips that where put together. Moreover, we then decided to add in transition to help make our film appear more smooth and sharp , which we chose a simple but slick transition of a fade in and out at appropriate times in the footage. Therefore, the footage was able to move smoothly and quickly into the next scene. In conclusions,  I  realised that we should of stayed with or first initial idea of showing the audience the negative impacts of drug and alcohol abuse from the main protagonists perspectives the reason for this is so that they are able to see the impact it has on them and the way it which it affects them and others around them. All in all we did not want to complicate the structure or the outcome of our film opening so we decided against it.
