Question 5: How did you attract/address
your audience?
I
decided to go to year 10,11 and 12 rooms to show them our film in order to attract my audience. We then gave
them all each a questionnaire to answer where they had to answer what they
though of our film. As a result to this the results then came back to us
positive. As a group we then decided to make a YouTube account, so weal become
administrators and uploaded our film my uploading our title ‘#Genertaion.com’.
By calling our film ‘#genertsaion.com’ automatically tell the audience what our
film is going to based upon, which is our modern society teenagers. Also the
‘#’ is a common symbol used by teenagers of today on social networking sites,
therefore gives the audience an indication as to what it is based about. All in
all we want a title that was catchy and easy to remember. Similarly I decided
to look at the production company film4 as it is a company that has a mass
target audience of C2DE that is similar
to my film as it as well focuses on the
working class, unemployed. After our first question which was done
before the film was made, our target audience wanted both male and female
teenagers to play the main protagonists seeing as this is a common theme in
drug films, however some argued that drug films were normally heavily male
dominated. Which allowed me to out in perspective that the audience wanted
something different and a little less predictable as to just having one main
protagonist. Therefore we challenged the conventions of a teen urban drama. As
a result to this we made the female protagonist happy, bubbly and energetic
which can been seen in this mid shot at the right hand side. You can clearly
see the drink in her hand, which is the product that is giving her the natural
high while she is dancing in a chaotic manner. Whereas in contrast to this
we had the male character the complete
opposite as he can been see as well to
the right hand side as dark and mysterious with the chiaroscuro lighting hiding
his identify to the audience that then makes the audience want to know more
about his character. This is highlighted
with the male character smoking outside that again sticks to the theme of our
film, also see as he has chiaroscuro lighting his moos could suggest that his
is depressed, moody and annoyed which are common things found in a teenager. In
comparison to the female protagonist she
always has her head up and is very jolly towards the camera and to her
surroundings, having fun. All in all both of these characters are addicted to
drugs and to alcohol, we wanted to also show the audience why and how it
effects them in a different way.
