Year 12 Film proposal

Year 12 Film proposal

Film plot

What is the story about? what happens in the film? Genre?

The genre of this film is drama based as it follows the youths of today’s society’s highs and lows. The story is about teenagers and young adults of this generation that are both wild and reckless simply because they party, go clubbing and take illegal drug substances. Hence the audience will get to see the actors, enjoying the “high” of drinking alcohol and taking drugs. Due to the explicit content of the film the target audience will be aimed at the age 15 and over, the reason for this is that the audience would be able to understand as well as sympathises with the characters and actors on screen.

Location: Filmed at public clubs and pubs as well as local train stations. We done this to keep the feel of teenage behaviour are around everywhere.

Setting: The location of the film takes place in a club and pub, to help give the  we also made reference to a train scene as the audience are aware that the teenagers have to get to their desired destination by public transport, this again sticks to the social class of C2DE as they are not fortunate enough to have cars. The film is a montage of moving images, of teenagers in a  night club and pub that are highlighted with flashing lights layered over it with a boy taking illegal drugs. This can suggest the cycle in which the teenagers are on, as to the ending of the young boy lighting up a cigarette.

Chiaroscuro in art is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, which was evident in the film. To be specific, chiaroscuro is present when the actor (in a close up and extreme close up) is rolling up the illegal substance. Contrast to the other scenes in the film where natural lighting is present as well as the bright vibrant light.

Canted angles- used at that start of the film, where the girl is with the metal spoon enticing the audience in my attracting there focus

Low angles and high angle shot used to create different levels in the movie , effective way, so that the audience does not lose focus from what they are watching.

Medium shots- used a lot in the film to see the  characters facial expressions and the background

Establishing shots- helped set the scene, as the audience instantly knows the general theme of the film and the location it is set in.

The “costume” in the film is modern as it is set in the 21st century, based around today’s generation of teenager’s thus casual day-to-day wear. The costume consists of basic tops, trousers, jeans as well as limited prop usage of spoons, lighters and drink.

Costumes and props

Modern, historic, casual, uniform

The “costume” in the film is modern as it is set in the 21st century, based around today’s generation of teenager’s thus casual day-to-day wear. The costume consists of basic tops, trousers, jeans as well as limited prop usage of spoons, lighters and drink.

Camera Techniques: Fade in and out will be used as a transition of each scene moving to the next one. Handheld camera at different location such as Greenford  but it is only shown for a short time this adds to the audience confusion as to what is going on. A slow zoom in is used to highlight the drugs in the first scene of the opening footage, this is highlighted with house music layered on top of the footage to create the crazy partying lifestyle. The song also makes reference to ‘fire burning’ which is also shown when the teenager boy is lighting up a cigarette.  Lighting is another element that is highly used in the film opening as it helps to make the footage realistic and the surroundings colourful. For example the Pub and club.
