Another camera technique
that was used in the opening scene of our film was the panning effect.
This was used of the main protagonist who was making the illegal drugs from the
clip before. Also only the side of the actors face is shown in this scene so
that the audience are not fully aware of his identity and who he is unknown. This is reinforced
with the black out background that again highlights the fact the this main
character is hidden , not willing to give information away about himself. This
is highlight with the chiaroscuro lighting on the characters face.
This scene then
fades into the London train scene to make the audience again aware of where the
club is being held at. As well the busy atmosphere adds to the craziness of the
scenes before. The handheld camera is used so that the audience fell that they
are apart of the action on the scene.
As
the main protagonist is making the illegal drugs, the camera zooms in slowly so
that the audience can again feel apart as to what is going o, making them more
drawn to the action that is appearing in front of there eyes. The background is
all black out apart from his hands that
has a symbolic outlook of the characters
identity seeing as it looks mysterious hands are coming out of the
shadows.
Another panning
effect is used as one of the main media camera devices on the main characters
face. His face is shown in full so that the audience are now able to see who
the ‘mysterious’ man is. As this is happening
slowly the ending credits start to fade in to the scene again telling
the audience who was part of the production team.
The image is of
another main protagonist, here she is shown dancing and moving in a proactive
manner with a beer bottle to her lips, this can also suggest the social class
that she is from which is of a C2DE background. The reason being is that this
is not a common thing that is found with upper class people of ABC1. this scene
is split up into smaller parts and are shown in different parts of the film
opening, whilst the camera is shot in handheld. This is repeatedly played
throughout the film but is intertwined
with other moving images that is related to the drug scene. This shows the
audience that she is one of the main characters.

A mid shot is used here as well as chiaroscuro lighting
on one of the characters that is set in
a night club in order to help set the party atmosphere mood. This again adds
effectiveness to the films genre. The only lights that are present in the scene
Is the bright moving led lighting so
that the audience are both aware as to where the teenagers are as well
as them feel apart of the action that is presented on screen. Close up are used
here to show the important of the scene message which is teenagers abusing
illegal drugs such as ‘weed’ being one of them. By us using a close up here on
the drugs makes the audience feel
uncomfortable as well as disengaging over something so horrible and harmful.
But I could argue that the audience will almost feel closer and emotionally
involved with the characters in this scene. The characters face that is rolling
up the illegal substances is not shown in the camera shot apart from their
hands to again make the scene mysterious as well as the audience wanting to
know what will happen next as the scene progresses. Due the montage of
moving images, the repeated image of the DJ is seen again playing music to show
the audience that there is a connection between the two clips put together. At the beginning of the opening scene clip of the moving montage. A range of low and long shot is used here to make the two characters look like they are of a higher status, as the audience are looking up from below. Also this shows the audience that the main character is seen interacting with his colleagues at work , to show that he is friendly and gets along with others.
The pub signs are
used as a montage in the opening scene. A log shot is then used so that the
audience are fully aware of the main protagonist surroundings which is the pub.
The nature lighting is used as is very high key, so the atmosphere created is
busy, energetic and chaotic with the voices from the customers overlapping of
speech.
The lighting here used is low natural lighting, to show
the audience that he is getting ready for work. This is supported by a over the
shoulder shot that was used so that you could see the main protagonist in the mirror talking to himself and can
still see the room that is behind. The costume use is of a smart business wear
that is al black attire. The prop used is a cardboard next to him where he
hangs up his blazer.
This scene is
seen at the end of the closing credits. A mid shot is used here to show that
the main character is communicating with the customers to reinforce that he is
a working teenager. Also the characters surroundings are still shown in this
particular shot, to show that the scene is busy and moving environment. You can
also the customers arm so the focus is not taken away from the main character.
